Q: Do these have to be turned on every night or will they light once t is dark?

Q: Can you use these inside on a Christmas tree inside of house ?
A: As long as the solar panel can absorb sunlight, it can be charged. So you can use it with a window with a light source or charge it outdoors before decorating the Christmas tree indoors.

Q: Could you stick these in the ground?
A: Yes, you can lay these on the ground. You could bury them if you wanted to for some reason. Only the solar panel needs to receive sunlight.
